The life of a teacher

This week the top thing on my list is marking. The latest unit has been about adventure and extreme sports and the final project includes creating a sports camp brochure. The students handed their brochure assignments and now I have the joy of looking at some of their creative artwork and some not so creative artwork. One thing that I am not looking forward to this week is telling some of the students that copying a brochure off the internet complete with pictures and handing it in as homework is considered plagiarizing.

That sucks...I had a lot of that same problem when I was there. Mostly, it was students copying off one another exactly. The weird thing is, the other teachers didn't seem to think that this was as big of a deal as I did. Maybe because independent and creative thought isn't valued as much? Good luck dealing with this...the kids need to know that plagarism is not acceptable. Put on that mean teacher face! :)

Ah the life of a teacher... marking then report cards! Hmm, are they as involved there as they can be here? Just wondering!
